“It’s a great way of having qualified and experienced helpers ‘on tap’ that you can call on as and when needed without being tied in.”
1. Tell us a little bit about your background
I’m a technical translator by training and education, with a long-standing interest in e-commerce. Alongside freelance translation work, I’ve set up a few online businesses over the past couple of decades or so, and my most recent project is SecretYarnStash.co.uk. Stemming from my re-discovery of crochet as a hobby a couple of years ago, this is an online shop selling yarns for knitting, crochet and other crafts, and launched in mid-October 2020.
2. What services do you come to PeoplePerHour for?
I’ve mainly used PeoplePerHour for graphic design and web design work. There’s a great choice of talented designers at a reasonable cost!
3. What’s your favourite project that you’ve completed on PeoplePerHour?
Definitely the most recent project which was an offer from Emily Bratby, a creative designer based in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Emily carried out a redesign of the Secret Yarn Stash home page prior to the site launch, and I was really pleased with the result. The work was carried out speedily and at a fair price. The platform made communication and payment quick and easy.
4. How has PeoplePerHour made your idea happen?
For micro and small businesses, design work is one of those things that can be tempting to think you can do yourself, but for me, that’s a false economy. It’s so much more cost-effective and efficient to get help from a freelancer who knows what they’re doing. The end result is better, the process is less stressful, and of course, it means you can focus on revenue-generating activities instead.
5. What advice would you give to other buyers using PeoplePerHour for the first time?
I recommend trying out offers as these are an easy way to sample different services and service providers before launching into a larger project. There’s so much choice it can be a little overwhelming, but browsing the various service categories can also be enlightening as there are so many different services available, and it’s easy to narrow down freelancer choices using the search criteria.
6. What’s your favourite thing about working with freelancers on PeoplePerHour?
I prefer PeoplePerHour over similar sites as I find it more straightforward to use, and it has everything you could want on offer in terms of services and quality of freelancers. It’s a great way of having qualified and experienced helpers ‘on tap’ that you can call on as and when needed without being tied in.
