Servants of the freelance economy since 2007
We’ve been serving the freelance economy since 2007, being one of the first pioneers of the now ubiquitous on-demand economy.
Since then we’ve amassed a community of over 2.4m skilled freelancers, served almost 1m businesses across over 180 countries and paid out more than £130m to freelancers over the years.
It still feels like day one
We believe that the freelance economy is still at its infancy. We take the view that — as early proponents of it — our duty is to serve it as holistically as we can, to bring our mission of allowing people to live their work dream to everyone.
We constantly push the boundary by launching new products, investing our organic profits in new product development not just on the PeoplePerHour platform but also others in adjacent markets serving more specialised use cases. TalentDesk.io is our latest example of that — an enterprise SaaS product that allows large corporates to manage all their freelance workforce easily and seamlessly in one place, at scale.

Our culture centres on constant innovation. We are still founder-led, independent and run the business with a very long term view. We take decisions not for next month or next quarter but for decades down the line. We work collaboratively, bringing great minds of different skill-sets together to solve challenging problems that constantly keep raising the quality bar of our products and deliver an enhanced customer experience.

Everyone cares about what everyone else is doing. We don’t stick to our little patch in the corner, we all care about the overall result and what each of us is doing.
We believe that great minds actually don’t think alike, and that a diverse skill-set of bright people coming together, challenging each other, generates a better result.

They say that owners care about rubbish on the floor, they don’t see it and think it’s the cleaners job, they pick it up.
At PeoplePerHour there is nowhere to hide, we have no room for complacency, politics and passing the buck. We all act like owners, are owners, and take responsibility and accountability for our actions, and more; because we all care about the overall outcome.
We stay hungry
Over a decade into our long journey, even though we are now profitable and more comfortable than at the start, we certainly don’t get complacent.
We are still hungry and keep pushing the boundary for more, for better, constantly improving our products and investing in a better experience for our customers.
We love the challenge and keep learning
We are all a bunch of inquisitive people who love learning, pushing ourselves and those around us. We love exploring sides of people that we never thought we had.
We’ve had people join us for admin roles and turn into PR’s, people join in payments and turn into QA’s, tech people grow into Product functions, others go into Data Science and so on. We believe that with the right mindset, hunger and determinations anything is possible, and we have proved that many times over.
We are brutally honest
At PeoplePerHour, everyone will tell you that there is no sugar-coating, no massaging, no walking on eggshells. We are all proud of our work. Proud of the purpose we serve and therefore fiercely protective of it.
Which is why we say things as they are, straight and direct. Because without brutal honesty, greatness cannot be achieved. We believe that sugarcoating results in a climate that fosters mediocrity and politics, versus meritocracy and greatness. We choose the latter.
