I'm looking for an experienced line editor, or two or three editors working in parallel, to help polish my next book. It is a data-led non-fiction guide to how part of the film business works. The first full draft is finished. The structure is settled, the research is done, and every figure and quotation has been checked against its source. The spelling is clean. Now it needs a good ear. I'd like the writing to: * read more naturally, more like one person talking to the reader; * lose any waffle, repetition or stiff phrasing; * keep a consistent tone from chapter to chapter. What the job is * A line edit for style, flow and concision. * Edits made in Track Changes in the Word files I send, with comments for anything you'd like me to decide. What the job isn't * Restructuring or developmental notes. The shape of the book is fixed. * Fact-checking. Figures, dates and quotations must stay exactly as they are.
