We have a software project that is almost complete, but unfortunately the original developer has become unresponsive, leaving us unable to launch. The project is based around the board game **Backgammon**, which is also played online. Serious players analyse their matches using software called **Extreme Gammon (XG)**. Currently, every move from a match must be entered manually into XG, which is extremely time-consuming. Our platform, 'BackgammonAnalyst.com', aims to automate this process. Users upload a completed match, the software reads and reconstructs the game, and generates an output that can be imported into XG for analysis, dramatically reducing the time and effort required. Project Overview We are building a premium skincare brand and are looking for an experienced UX and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) specialist to review our homepage design before development begins. Our UX/UI designer will create the initial design. Your role is to evaluate whether the experience is engaging, intuitive, and optimized to convert visitors into customers. This is a strategic review and recommendation project—not a UI design project. Rather than rebuilding it, I want to refine what we already have and make it feel more polished, modern and intuitive. This is a premium culture magazine website, so the experience should feel editorial rather than like a typical ecommerce store. It should take inspiration from high-end digital publications and luxury brands, with clean layouts, strong typography and immersive imagery. Every page should encourage visitors to discover content naturally before converting into magazine purchases or memberships. Some key improvements I’d like you to make include: * Review the entire website from a UX perspective and identify any friction or unnecessary clicks. * Improve spacing, alignment, typography and visual hierarchy throughout. * Create a more premium editorial aesthetic with consistent layouts across every page. * Refine the homepage to create a stronger first impression and encourage exploration. * Consider a more engaging hero section, potentially using subtle motion or video if it enhances the experience without affecting performance. * Improve the navigation so content is easier to discover. * Enhance article pages to feel more like a premium online publication, with better readability, imagery and related stories. * Simplify the purchase journey by reducing unnecessary clicks between discovering a magazine and checking out. * Improve calls-to-action so they’re more consistent and visually prominent. * Add subtle animations, hover effects and transitions that elevate the experience without becoming distracting. * Optimise the mobile experience so every page feels intentionally designed for smaller screens. * Improve footer layout and overall page structure. * Optimise loading speed, image quality and SEO best practices.
