Description
The project is based around the board game **Backgammon**, which is also played online. Serious players analyse their matches using software called **Extreme Gammon (XG)**. Currently, every move from a match must be entered manually into XG, which is extremely time-consuming.
Our platform, 'BackgammonAnalyst.com', aims to automate this process. Users upload a completed match, the software reads and reconstructs the game, and generates an output that can be imported into XG for analysis, dramatically reducing the time and effort required.
You can view the current website at **BackgammonAnalyst.com**.
From our assessment, there are relatively few changes remaining on the desktop version, with a little more work required on the mobile web version. However, we have not yet seen the software fully working, either via a live demonstration or a comprehensive video.
We have our own server infrastructure and a dedicated server administrator. The first task would be to assess whether all source code has been deployed correctly, review the current state of the project, and thoroughly test the application to identify any remaining issues before completing the outstanding work.
The product was scheduled to launch this coming Friday/Saturday. We appreciate this is ambitious, but if the remaining work is genuinely limited, there may still be an opportunity to meet, or come very close to, that target.
If this is a project you would be interested in reviewing, we would be happy to provide further information, access to the codebase, and discuss the next steps.
You can view the amends:

The project fee can be a place holding initially.

Could you please confirm the current technology setup (React/Node/PostgreSQL versions, hosting environment, and repository access) and whether the existing codebase is fully available in GitHub so I can review the current implementation and identify the remaining work accurately?
-

- How is the match reconstruction currently implemented, and are there any known cases where the generated game or XG export produces incorrect results?
- What are the highest-priority issues preventing the launch, and are there any critical bugs that must be resolved before secondary improvements?
- Since the target launch date is very close, would you prefer focusing first on delivering a stable production-ready version with essential functionality, followed by any remaining enhancements after launch? -

Hi,
Before committing to the Friday/Saturday launch, I've a few questions:
1. Is the source code hosted on GitHub, GitLab, or another repository?
2. What versions of React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL are being used?
3. Is there a staging environment that mirrors production?
4. Do you have a list of known issues beyond the Google document?
5. Are there automated tests, or will testing be entirely manual?
6. What percentage of the application would you estimate is complete?
7. Is the XG export functionality already implemented, or is that one of the remaining tasks?
8. Are there any third-party APIs or licensing dependencies involved?
9. Which areas are currently not working—UI, backend logic, file parsing, or deployment?
10. Do you have an estimated budget in mind for completing the remaining work?
If you'd like, we're happy to sign an NDA before reviewing the project. Once that's in place, you can securely share the source code and project documentation with us.
Our technical assessment normally costs USD 250, as it includes a comprehensive code review, deployment verification, architecture assessment, testing, risk analysis, and a finalized implementation roadmap. However, as this would be our first project together, we'd be pleased to waive this fee and carry out the technical assessment completely free of charge as a gesture of goodwill. We value long-term relationships and hope this is the beginning of a successful partnership.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards. -

The amendments mostly cover UI and purchasing flow, but I'd like to confirm one thing: is the PGN/XG export engine already producing 100% valid XG import files for every supported match, or are there still edge cases in the parser/reconstruction logic that need to be solved?
-

Has anyone successfully demonstrated the complete workflow from uploading a match to generating a valid XG import file or has every test failed before the final output stage? This will quickly tell us whether we're debugging isolated issues or an incomplete processing pipeline.
Do you have access to the complete source code, deployment scripts, environment variables, database schema, and third-party credentials, or is any part of the system still controlled by the previous developer?
Is the game reconstruction engine fully implemented, with the remaining work primarily around the UI, or are there still unresolved algorithmic issues affecting move recognition and XG file generation?
How was the project originally deployed (Docker, PM2, Kubernetes, or another setup), and does your server administrator have a reproducible deployment process for staging and production?
If, after a technical audit, we discover that the remaining work is significantly larger than expected, would you prefer a phased release that launches the core desktop workflow first and schedules mobile enhancements immediately afterward, or is feature parity across both platforms required before launch?
