Discussion Leader of articles
Each student will co-facilitate discussion of the articles part of the readings one time per semester. This will entail providing provoking questions in advance of class (emailed to professor, who will post them to Canvas), moderating discussion, suggesting the approximate historiographic fit of the work, and if necessary, providing a brief explanation of difficult ideas. A schedule of presenters will be posted when we have decided the order. There will likely be two leading each day. In your (brief) time of fame and glory in opening our discussion, you need to accomplish a few tasks. 1) Supply at least 3 specific prompts to guide our discussion. These should be open-ended (i.e. not with simple answers, but bigger "why" type questions), thoughtful, and intended to provoke discussion. This is easier if they cover areas where you suspect there will be divided opinions. These questions need to be sent to me a couple of days before class. So, if we are talking about New Military History on Monday March 22, for instance, you would need to post your prompt questions on Neufeld’s chapter to Canvas by March 20th. 2) Give the class any required context that you think might help us understand the main work of the day. This can include such things as a brief biography of the author, analysis of the kinds of work they do more generally, a discussion of the historical context of the time and place of publication, a timeline or maps of the region and context of the events of the book, or anything else that you think will improve our reading discussion. Use my first class as an example, but feel free to do a better job! This assistance is largely up to you, and can include handouts, PowerPoints, streamed video, shared screen materials, or anything that you come up with. Keep it brief, this is not intended to be a lecture or great hardship. 3) Send me at least 3 related/canonical/important readings (CMoS format) that I can add to our bibliography, within a week of the discussion (just by email is fine, I will add them to the modules). 4) Moderate the discussion (I will assist as needed). Essentially, this means posing the questions that you have emailed me to the class, and prompting individuals to respond, clarify, or otherwise engage the material. Do not rush for answers, be patient. If the question seems to be unclear or falls flat, then clarify but wait on others to answer. Be especially aware of those who are prepared to speak, and those who maybe have not spoken for a while. Let the class do the heavy lifting, nonetheless, as you should not need to speak too much as facilitator. Watch the room, keep a speakers-list (address people in order they raise hands), and be sure to be patient and give them time to think a little before moving on.

3 hours ago11 proposalsRemoteContinuing Education Course Approval & Compliance Coordinator
Location: Remote Must be a native English speaker from an English speaking country. Task based About the Role We operate continuing education platforms serving licensees across multiple states. We're expanding into new states (Illinois, and others) and need someone to own the entire course-approval lifecycle — from identifying what we need to offer, through getting it approved by the state licensing board, building the actual course, and keeping it compliant and renewed year after year. This is an end-to-end ownership role. You will be the single point of accountability for each state and each course offering: A to Z. What You'll Own Regulatory research Research each target state's CE requirements: required topics, mandatory hour breakdowns, course categories (e.g., core/mandatory vs. elective), instructor and provider qualifications, and approval pathways. Track the specific rules of each licensing board (e.g., Illinois, and other state real estate commissions) and translate them into a concrete plan for what we need to submit. Application & approval Complete and assemble provider and course approval applications for each state, including all supporting documentation (course outlines, timed agendas, learning objectives, assessments, instructor credentials, certificates of completion samples). Submit applications, pay/track fees, and manage the back-and-forth with board reviewers — responding to deficiency notices and revision requests until approval is granted. Course development Develop the actual course content we'll offer for each approved topic — outlines, slides, written materials, quizzes/exams, and answer keys — built to satisfy the board's requirements and our platform's format. Coordinate with subject-matter experts, writers, or AI-assisted content tools as needed. Compliance & renewal Maintain a master calendar of approval expiration dates and renewal deadlines across all states and courses. File renewals on time, update content when regulations change, and keep all course materials and records audit-ready. Monitor regulatory changes in active states and flag anything that affects existing offerings. What Success Looks Like New state offerings go from "we want to enter Illinois" to "approved and live" without items falling through the cracks. No course ever lapses due to a missed renewal. Applications come back approved with minimal deficiency cycles because submissions are thorough the first time. Qualifications Strong project management and organizational skills; comfortable owning many parallel deadlines across different jurisdictions. Excellent written communication — you'll be drafting applications, course materials, and formal correspondence with state agencies. Detail-oriented and comfortable reading and interpreting administrative regulations and statutes. Self-directed; able to run a process end-to-end with minimal hand-holding. Nice to have Prior experience with continuing education, professional licensing, accreditation, or regulatory submissions (real estate, insurance, nursing, etc.). Instructional design or course development background.

Educational Video Editor & Motion Graphics Animator/ Long Term
Teachers That Tutor (TTT) is looking for a talented freelance video editor with motion graphics/basic animation skills to help create high-quality video content for a new UK primary education platform. TTT is an established education business with a growing YouTube channel of over 7,000 subscribers. We are now developing a subscription-based learning platform for primary-aged children and their parents, initially focusing on Years 3–6. What we're looking for We are looking for someone who can take our raw teaching videos and educational content and turn them into videos that feel sharp, concise, engaging and professionally produced. We will provide the teaching content, lesson structure and raw recordings. Your role would be to bring these to life through high-quality editing, visual polish and appropriate basic animation/motion graphics. This could include: Professional video editing and pacing Cutting and tightening recordings to keep lessons concise Audio clean-up and enhancement On-screen text and key vocabulary Simple motion graphics and animation Animated calculations and worked examples Highlighting important information on screen Simple diagrams, number lines, fractions and other educational visuals Titles, transitions and consistent branding "Pause and try" moments for children Appropriate use of graphics, icons and visual effects Creating a consistent look across the TTT video library Producing versions suitable for both our learning platform and YouTube We are not looking for complex character animation or highly elaborate animated films. The priority is making good teaching content look professional, modern and visually engaging without distracting from the learning. The finished videos should feel well made and purposeful, with information communicated clearly and efficiently. They need to work for both children using the platform and parents who want to understand and support their child's learning. Experience Strong video editing skills are the main requirement. Experience with educational content, EdTech, explainer videos or children's content would be beneficial, but it is not essential if you have a strong portfolio and can demonstrate the style and quality we are looking for. We are particularly interested in someone who understands how editing, graphics and animation can make information easier to understand, rather than simply making a video look flashy. Building a consistent TTT style If the initial project is successful, we would like to develop a reusable visual style for TTT, including: Titles and transitions Text styles Worked-example formats Simple animations Question/"Your Turn" screens Educational diagrams and visual elements Intro/outro elements Consistent branding The aim is to develop templates and reusable assets so that producing future videos becomes increasingly efficient. Initial paid pilot We would like to start with one paid pilot video, likely based around a short Year 6 Maths lesson. We will provide the raw content and educational direction, and would like the freelancer to show us how they would edit, polish and visually enhance it. Most finished videos are likely to be around 3–5 minutes. If the pilot works well, there is potential for regular ongoing work, creating videos for both the new TTT platform and our existing YouTube channel. When applying Please provide: A brief introduction and your relevant experience. Links to 2–3 examples of your most relevant video editing work. Any educational, EdTech, children's or explainer content you've worked on, if applicable. The editing/animation software you use. Your approximate price for editing and enhancing one 3–5 minute video when the raw teaching content is provided. An indication of how your pricing might work for 5–10 videos per month. Your typical turnaround time. Whether you would be comfortable developing reusable templates and visual assets for future TTT videos. Please don't send a large generic portfolio. Two or three examples that show the quality of your editing, visual polish and motion graphics would be much more useful. Initial project: One paid pilot video Potential: Regular long-term freelance work Location: Remote – UK-based freelancers preferred

12 hours ago12 proposalsRemoteFreelance Filmmaker for YXA Cinematic Skincare Mini-Films
We are YXA, a UK-based premium skincare and wellness brand built around science, innovation and performance. We are looking for a freelance Commercial Filmmaker to create 30–60 second cinematic mini-films, with potential for ongoing collaboration. Gymshark’s cinematic campaigns are a key creative benchmark for us. We admire how they turn products and brand ideas into powerful, human-led stories through transformation, emotion, aspiration, dramatic cinematography, sound, VFX and visual world-building. We want someone who can translate this level of creative thinking and cinematic storytelling into premium skincare — not copy Gymshark, but bring that filmmaking philosophy into a beauty and science context in a way that feels uniquely YXA. We are not looking for conventional skincare advertising consisting mainly of product shots, water splashes, stock footage or basic ingredient animations. We want the person, skin and transformation to be the hero, with the product and science integrated creatively into the story. You should have: A strong skincare/beauty commercial portfolio Commercial filmmaking & creative direction experience Strong conceptual thinking and storytelling Experience filming/directing people, faces and skin High-end cinematography Treatment/storyboard development VFX/CGI understanding where appropriate Strong editing, pacing, colour and sound Ability to take a project from brief → concept → production → post → final film PORTFOLIO MANDATORY: Please send your 3 strongest skincare/beauty commercial films. For each, tell us your exact role and briefly explain the brief, creative concept, your thinking behind the direction, and how you developed it into the final film. Please also briefly answer: 1. After reviewing Gymshark’s cinematic campaigns, how would you translate this style of storytelling into premium skincare? 2. If we gave you a new premium, science-led skincare product, how would you approach creating its campaign film from scratch? Please note: Applications will only be considered if you provide the requested skincare/beauty portfolio and answer both questions above. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
12 hours ago5 proposalsRemoteGIS SPECIALIST WANTED FOR SHORT ECOLOGICAL MODELLING REVIEW
I have developed a continental-scale GIS friction surface to explore possible directions and corridors of long-distance primate dispersal across eastern and southern Africa (using QGIS). Before developing the model further, I would like an independent specialist to advise whether applying relative costs to landscape features, followed by least-cost path analysis, is a scientifically reasonable way of generating conditional hypotheses about possible animal dispersal. This is an initial conceptual review only. I am not asking anyone to reproduce the model, inspect the complete workflow, process large datasets or verify every GIS operation. The task would involve: reading a short description of the model; examining a simple diagram and example output; discussing the approach with me for approximately one hour; advising on its validity, limitations and whether broader corridor analysis would strengthen it; providing a short written summary of your opinion. I am particularly interested in people with experience in ecological resistance surfaces, animal movement or dispersal modelling, landscape connectivity or least-cost corridor analysis. Please briefly describe your relevant experience and provide an example of comparable work. A generic knowledge of QGIS or ArcGIS alone will not be sufficient. This may lead to additional separately agreed work, but there is no expectation of involvement beyond this initial review.
