We need an experienced electronics/PCB designer to design a custom Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 carrier board for an industrial field test tool. The board will be used for roadside electronic sign testing and needs robust isolated serial communications, Ethernet, WiFi support via the CM4 module, touchscreen display support and a connector for an address plug socket. We are developing a portable field tester for roadside electronic signs and controllers. The unit will run Linux on a Raspberry Pi CM4 and needs to communicate with equipment over isolated RS422/RS485 and Ethernet. It needs to be designed sensibly for field use, with proper isolation, protection, clear connectors and future small-batch manufacture in mind. Preferred technical direction: The serial ports should probably be implemented using a dual UART interface from the CM4, for example an SPI-to-dual-UART device such as the SC16IS752/SC16IS762 family or equivalent, feeding isolated RS422/RS485 transceivers. We are open to the designer recommending exact parts, but the design must be supportable and manufacturable, not based on obscure parts with poor availability.
