Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am looking to scope a web based project.
I need to be able to receive SMS (text) messages and store them in a SQL or similar DB, for use and display on a web based app that we are looking to develop.
I am not sure how this can be done, whether we effectively need a machine running 24/7 attached to a bunch of multi-SIM mobile phones. Or if there is another way.
So this project is a scoping one, please give me your hourly rate and we can discuss the scope, project in the messages before proceeding.
Requirements, please:
Propose a methodology for getting SMS messages (from SIM cards that I provide) to a SQL database that we can then use for a web project
Propose a way of adding new SIM cards / mobile numbers over time
Do we need multiple mobiles, or are their ways we can get the SMS to the DB without a physical mobile
There are a whole bunch of apps (pulse, airdroid, mightytext) that are android to PC SMS apps, can we scrape these and setup multiple instances on one machine to get multiple numbers' sms?
The SMS messages should be available instantly, or very quickly, in the DB so we can display them for our web app.
I expect the initial project to lead into a web app development project.

Hi,
Good morning.
Have any update regarding our proposal?
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Best Regards,

Hi Tom, Is Twilio or Webtext and option for you? Subscribing for a virtual number and then using their APIs to integrate received sms into SQL database would be my advice.
