Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hi,
I run an agency offering design, development, seo, marketing, & print to start-up's & small businesses within the UK. I'm a developer myself, but most of my time nowadays is spent managing projects and dealing with the everyday running of the business.
I've had another developer working with us for several years, but since a few months back he's no longer with us. Since he left, I've tried 2 other (Indian) developers. Both have let me down, and both have let me down on the project that I'm advertising here today. This has caused a huge setback with this website launch and I cannot risk making this same mistake again as we take our client relationships very seriously, and rightly so - this particular client is now very disappointed with the delay.
Should you be successful with your bidding on this particular project, I can GUARANTEE you ongoing work, working alongside some great people, and on some exciting projects. This job is a chance for you to sell yourself to me. I don't like out-sourcing work, and the main reasons that I'm here with this job is that A) I'm at a loose end, and B) I'm looking for another developer to come onboard with us again, long-term.
Quick summary of this particular project:
We're working on a site for a client which involves integrating the providers API to my clients site.
The clients site is Wordpress-based (not looking to change this), and we'll be using the Jigoshop plugin (although would be willing to discuss if you're more confident working with the WP eCommerce plugin).
I won't go into full details here, but here's a quick digest of how things will work once the API's been integrated-
1. Products are to be added, removed & updated on my clients site, through the provider API. This includes stock levels, displaying prices, product names, descriptions, etc on the front-end (everything's available on the API)
2. Customers then purchase products from my clients website
3. A cron job runs daily at 3:30pm, and orders are sent back to the providers site automatically (again, this is an option on their API)
4. The provider then ships the goods to the customer.
Payments will only be accepted via PayPal, so no extra integration is required for payment gateways at this time.
There are a few shipping options, but these are all part of the providers API.
There will also be FREE shipping for orders of £30.01 or more.
The provider (Smiffy's) offer extensive documentation for their API, so you won't have any problems there. You can also get in touch with them via phone or email should you have any queries.
I mentioned previously the 2 other developers who both let me down half-way through this project - since I don't know what they had done exactly, those 2 installs will both be scrapped and we'll start again with a fresh install of Wordpress. Initially we was using an eCommerce THEME framework, rather than a plugin, anyway. There will be the odd thing you can grab from those previous installs, though (image watermark script, product image generator, etc).
The site is on our own UK-based server which is incredibly quick, reliable, and has cPanel.
I've not entered how much I'm willing to pay for this job, because I'd like you to have a closer look at the project, then let YOU TELL ME, what you want to charge. I'm not looking for an hourly rate at this time - I need a price to do the job, and I need an estimate of how long it'll take you to complete the project.
Of course cost matters to me as I'm already way over budget for this project and it's now actually costing me money! However, I need someone reliable who can get the work done with no if's or but's, and as soon as possible!
If you'd like to have a look at the documentation and a full brief for the work that needs done, please submit a temporary bid outlining your background & experience. If I like what you have to say initially, I will drop you a message inviting you to view the full scope of the project on BaseCamp (the project management tool which we use). After you've had a look at the project & the API documentation, you can then come back here and amend your bid and give me an estimation of how long it'd take you, and I'll then choose a bidder.
Note: This job is ONLY for the development side of things - me & my team have already designed the website, coded it to HTML/ CSS, and will have it integrated to a fresh install of Wordpress/ Jigoshop within the next few days. Your job is to ensure the site functions correctly, we'll handle how it looks.
I will require daily updates (on BaseCamp), and perhaps the occasional text chat on Skype. If you're the kind of person who does a few hours work one day, then disappears for days on end - please don't waste my time, nor yours. I'm looking for someone who can take on this project and give it 100% commitment to get the job done ASAP.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Tom
