Custom macro for Solidworks CAD view creation
I would like someone to create a code or macro that lets me quickly export standard views of a 3D model from Solidworks CAD (2024 & 2026 but ideally not version specific). Currently to export screenshots to send to people I manually orient the model to specific views - e.g. front, top, left and snap a jpeg. I would like to automate this to save time, so it will automatically take the standard views and export them to a named folder. For example see in the images the manual method, I would align to each view to get the views shown top right. I don't mind what method is used to create this but ideally would like a single button or shortcut key to press to activate the routine.

Hello. I have an active UK planning application for a front porch that has been paused by the council. The planning officer rejected my 3D visuals and needs standard, scaled 2D existing/proposed floor plans and elevations. They specifically need the porch height and existing house height clearly labelled. I can provide the 3D images and rough measurements. Can you draft these four black-and-white scaled PDF drawings for me? Planning have stated - There also appears to be a mismatch between the drawing titles and the information shown. For example, drawings labelled as ‘Existing Floor Plan’ and ‘Proposed Floor Plan’, appear to show 3D visual images rather than floor plans, while drawings labelled ‘Existing Elevation’ and ‘Proposed Elevation’ show different angled views of the 3D model rather than conventional elevation drawings. As submitted, these drawings/3D visuals do not provide sufficient measurable detail to assess the proposal, including the scale, design and visual impact of the porch. Key dimensions including the height of the proposed porch and the existing building are also not shown. Please could you provide revised drawings showing the existing and proposed plans and elevations, drawn to scale, with key dimensions of the existing building and proposed porch clearly labelled at your earliest convenience. Existing bungalow roof is on a slant, as will the proposed porch be. The existing roof of the bungalow is 3metres 80cm, and it slopes down to 3metres 20cm, to where the new porch will end (to the right hand side if you are looking at it directly). Fence Post & Retaining Rod
I need to get a CAD model of fence post produced. The post is a commonly used metal "Y" post, made from galvanised steel. Like a Y, it has 3 arms. Thickness of each arm is 4mm throughout its length. All 3 arms extend 40mm from the centre. Height of post is 1800mm, tapering over the lowest 100mm to a point where each arm extends 5mm from the centre. 2 arms are plain. The third holds wire mesh and has 11 identical grooves cut into it which are 15mm long angled at 45 degrees to the vertical set at 100 mm intervals. There is also a larger vertical groove in the centre of the upper part of the arm and there are also 5 circular holes with a diameter of 4mm. The rod is 1000mm along its long axis and has a flanged end set at 90 degrees with a distance of 5mm between the right angle and the flange. At the other end, there is another right angle bend (in the same plane as the flanged end. This end is threaded and has a length of 15mm. I have annoated pdfs showing 2D plans of the post and rod. I have had sophisticated 3D models produced in the past and have made working models (without the taper) for my own purposes. This should take a moderately competent CAD designer about 30 minutes but I will allow an hour. I use FreeCAD so would like files that I can open natively or import so that I can view the post from any angle and show it with and without the rod.
