Overview: We need two versions of a Google map to include all code and artwork.
Your code must be fully compatible with our database which will contain all the relevant locations and settings.
The two maps will need the same functionality but whilst one will have virtually full browser window width the other will be approximately one third of the width. They will therefore require different controls.
Both maps will show the locations of our users on our web site to be launched before the end of Feb 15.
The locations will either be in Latitude and Longitude or by town and country and will cover all of the Earth’s surface.
Viewers must be able to select/drag the map to any part of the Earth’s surface, zoom in/out and filter out any number of the 14 different categories of users from the view.
Both maps will need to refresh automatically at 10 min intervals or when manually selected or updated.

Details common to both maps.

The web site is fully responsive so both versions must have widths specified in % not absolute dimensions.
All must be initially static by default to prevent unintentional scrolling and allow access to the remainder of the page below the map on a phone/tablet. The map must be capable of scrolling however to be achieved by clicking on a locked padlock image on the map which will toggle to an unlocked padlock image. The map must then be draggable via mouse/touch or able to be sent to a particular location via a word search such as Oxford, England. At any location range/zoom can be changed via +/- buttons on the map or via touch (pinching in/out).

Main Map

This will fill approximately 80% of the browser screen (desk/laptop) or 100% on a smartphone. It will default to a location and range set by the logged-in user (from their personal settings) and sourced for the map from our database.
By default it will show all users’ locations (via Latitude and Longitude or by town and country from our database) within the visible area except for one category (Twitter users) who will only show if the map range is a maximum of approximately 30 statute miles/50 kilometres regardless of filter options.
We will require 14 tick boxes in a legend below the map for each user category, the Twitter category will only be selectable when the range is as above (3). A greyed out “Update” button will become live when any box is ticked/un-ticked and will update the map when clicked.
We will supply the artwork for the 14 categories of locator pins.

Map 2.

This is a small version of the Main map and will have a maximum height of 350px but variable width depending on screen size. It will occupy 100% of a .
It will need the same functionality as the main map for locking/unlocking and range/zoom control and default location and range.
There is not room below this map on the relevant web page for categories to be selected/deselected so a “Filter Options” button should temporarily remove the map revealing the 14 tick boxes and the “Update” button. Clicking this will restore the map as will a “Return to map” button if no changes to the ticked boxes are made.

We would like this complete by 14 Feb.
