Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hello,
My web host One.com has informed me that the PHP will soon be updated to the 8.0 version.
As my website is running on PHP 7.4 and it has got all sort of crafty customisations and a theme that’s long been unsupported… It’ll most likely get, for a luck of a better word, totally fucked up.
Following the guide One.com gave me, I attempted on my own to update Wordpress, the themes, plug-ins, including WooCommerce, to their latest versions. That resulted in the styling of the webstore section of the site in particular to loose all the styling the previous developer did.
And, when I finally switched to PHP 8.0 the website went blank giving me an error message ( Luckily I had a webspace back up and managed to restore the appearance).
According to One.com a number of plugins are outdated/incompatible and may/will need to be replaced. I was given a list which I can provide.
When in 2018 there was the switch to PHP 7.2, a developer here was able to do this same job very quickly while preserving the appearance of my website, so not to disrupt my work and keeping it budget friendly as I'm a young costume maker with somewhat limited finances.
Please propose yourself as soon as possible, the PHP update will be enforced in November and ideally I'd like to have this worry resolved in about 1 week time.
Thanks!
