Description
Experience Level: Expert
I am a professional pilot but I have also run my own Web Design company www.imagekings.co.uk since 2000. My flying carrier started with 22 years in the RAF including 6 years with the Red Arrows - since 1994 I have flown with Virgin Atlantic. I am currently a Captain on the 787 Dreamliner. I am also an entrepreneur and significantly - a Railway Enthusiast.
This job is to add the necessary Xcode & Swift code to my existing Xcode layout. Screenshots of all pages are attached. This is a strictly “work for hire” contract, I shall own all Intellectual Property Rights over all the code and design as stated in 3.5 of the PPH T&Cs. The chosen developer will also be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for this project.
The app is for Railway enthusiasts - commonly known as Trainspotters. It will be largely based on the "TrainSpotter" Android app developed by Peter Eastwood. He is fully supportive of me building an IOS app using the basic “look and feel” of his.
The chosen developer for this app will have a proven record of developing IOS apps. This app will be built strictly within the Apple Guidelines using the latest version of Xcode (8.1 as of 20/11/16) and Swift (3.0). I am currently learning both languages so I would like liberal amounts of comments throughout the code. After successful App Review the app will be tested via the Apple TestFlight process via my Apple Developer account (using up to 2000 Beta testers for a maximum of 60 days). The developer will be expected to remedy any errors that emerge. The job will be complete when the app is approved by me and Apple and available on the App Store. Copies of the Xcode project should be sent to me at regular intervals during development. I will publish the app web site to coincide with the start of the TestFlight process. It is essential that any data (spots/sightings) that are collected by Beta testers can subsequently be loaded into the finished app when it becomes available.
Ideally the chosen developer will have access to the free Android app “TrainSpotter” - this is only available in the UK Google Play store.
This is essentially a simple app which has two databases. The first one is a JSON database (sample of the data attached) which will be updated regularly (at least monthly) by me, it is not editable via the app but simply provides all the data the app needs to display. It contains the details of the types of trains (e.g diesel or electric locos) their class (a numerical designation within the type) plus individual details of each train (owner, operator etc).
The second database is individual to the user and simply contains their “spottings”. It is generated by the app as soon as the first train is “spotted” and contains as a minimum the train number - optionally the user can add date, location and notes. An image may also be associated with each entry. The android app can export its users databases in CSV format (sample attached). This app should allow import of an android app produced database for users converting to Apple. It should also allow export of the users database in the same format for use on an android app, another IOS device or as a backup. iCloud back up is also highly desirable.
I have based my design on the iPhone SE. All pages should be scrollable.
Unless stated otherwise, whenever a popup window opens with a message it should also contain an OK button which will close the window - touching any part of the screen outside the popup will also close the popup.
The chosen developer will have exclusive first refusal for developing future versions of the app.
