Vintage style logo required

Currently have a product label for a range of Victorian style sauces and condiments. The current logo is on the label but I'm considering changing it. As something doesn't feel right about it. The rest of the label is good but the logo isn't right and I can't work out why.

I'm thinking of doing one of two things, either reworking the original concept of a Victorian man but making a more stylised version or swapping the image entirely and looking at a White stag. Both would need a more vintage look/feel than a lot of current logo styles.
Is anyone up to the challenge?

I don't want a generic 'off the shelf' logo so if that is all you can do then please don't waste my time. I have set the limit at £100 but could be flexible for the right design/designer.
