Logo Design for Mercer Scaffolding

New Logo Design required for a fast growing and professional company, Mercer Scaffolding and Plant Hire Ltd.

Unfortunately, at the moment the company has only a basic text logo that isn't memorable and rather old fashioned (see http://mercerscaffolding.com/ for existing logo). We are seeking a newly designed logo to give the company a clear and professional identity.

Criteria:
- The logo must maintain a professional identity within the Scaffolding industry.
- The final design will have to be easily identifiable and transferable across all company items (e.g. onto a lorry, business card, workmans hardhat, sign at site, letterhead, website, etc).
- The design shouldn't be overly complicated. However, it should be a strong and somewhat masculine design.
- The company colours are orange and black. The logo will have to work on both a black background and a white background. A vibrant ‘real orange’ is preferred.

Start Date: ASAP.
End Date: 1-2 weeks.

We currently have two main ideas for the logo:
(see attached images, obviously we cannot copy these images, they are a basis for inspiration)

1. A newly designed 'tigers head' with the words Mercer Scaffolding below or to the side. The 'tigers head' must be strong and easily identifiable. The eyes and words could be orange. I'm not sure if it would look good but a tiger with a hard hat would be interesting to see. See our favourite logo of one of our suppliers, Panthera Group. That's the type of simplicity we're after.

2. A badge or shield with a strong, predominant, unique and easily identifiable 'M'. The 'M' must be easily identifiable and transferable/scalable across different items . The words Mercer Scaffolding below or to the side.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on these ideas.

I'd would like to work directly with the designers and communicate via phone or skype in order to help achieve a remarkable logo.

Once delivered Mercer Scaffolding and Plant Hire Ltd will need to own full rights to the logo design and it will have to be provided in all file formats.
