Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the business: the LSE's social anthropology department.
Design details: This will be an A4 publication, in colour. It is an 'amateur' student led-publication but we are sill hoping for a publication to be proud of, as well edited and designed as possible. The content is 90 per cent text and ten per cent image. All of the articles for the magazine have already been written, edited and proofread, so they just need to be carried across properly, meticulously, to ensure that emphases and content is not lost. The pieces are in Word documents and the images and illustrations are in separate image files. The order of the articles has been decided so it will be your job to re-produce this order. In terms of style there is some creative licence, as with the contents page and alike, but the material/content is mostly all there, it does however require a deftness and confidence to present the content in the best way possible without losing original meaning and individual nuance where the pieces are concerned.
Target audience: Social anthropology students/those interested in anthropology.
Number of pages needed: 40-50
Ideas for the visual style: Work with the images and illustrations given. Use your creative flair also.
Things to avoid: Not copying texts across properly, these are academically minded pieces (mostly by students and not completely professional) and need to be presented as you receive them and meticulously so.
Preferred colors: Minimal, not too bright.
Where the design will be used: print and online, perhaps through the lse anthropology website.
Extra notes: This is a publication which is 90 per cent text and ten per cent image. It is really important that you are au fait with conventions in academic referencing and writing more generally. Understanding things like italics, quotations, footnotes and bibliographies is crucial in being able to carry the project out well. A degree level understanding of a 'reading' subject would then be very helpful / familiarity with academic writing.
Communication will be via e-mail, so you will need to be checking your e-mails regularly and getting back to me as soon as possible.
