Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We sell a meter for Gout Sufferers to test their blood for Uric Acid Levels
Historically this is a very occasional test from blood taken by a doctor.
A number of Home test devises have recently come on the market, one of which we have been offering for the last 3 years or so.
The meter is by its very nature a “home use” device and this can cause considerable difficulties to users, particularly if they are not used to using this kind of device and in interpreting results
Supplying them with a very easy to use graph or series of graph options would help greatly with interpreting results.
It is important to make the spreadsheet as easy to use a possible as many of the users will probably have little experience of Excel and supplying them with a graph or series of graph options would help greatly with interpreting results.
The meter can also take Glucose or Cholesterol readings so we will need separate sheets for those
Data input
On first use the customer will have to enter as a one off entry
1. His/Her name
2. Start date
3. The scale of measurement. For uric acid Cholesterol and glucose there are two scales of measurement that can be used by the operator. They chose which one they want to use
Uric Acid
• mg/dL the reading is formatted as - eg 5.5 mg/dL
• umol/L the reading is formatted as - eg 400 umol/L
Glucose
• mg/dL reading is formatted as- e. 70 mg/dL
• mmol/L reading is formatted as – eg. 3.9mmol/L
Cholesterol
• mg/dL reading is formatted as – eg 200 mg/dL
• mmol/L reading is formatted as – eg 5.2 mmol/L
I am sure that we can make this easy for the customer
Then as the customer will need to enter his/her results
1. Date
2. Time (optional)
3. Reading
4. Written notes Ie Ate sea food last night
Example data attached
Then we need to show the results in a graphical form(s) bar & linear probably
The main reason for having the meter is to show over time if your readings are averaging up or down. In simple terms trending Up is bad and trending Down is Ok
Moving averages are useful and it need some way of the graph indicating clearly the up or down trend.
To add and to complicate this there can be readings that can be considered an anomalous result or Natural Variation
To sum up - easily interpreted results and ease of use for the very inexperienced user.
We have just listed suggestions here, maybe you can come up with a different approach
