Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
General information for the website: We sell custom manufactured solutions to the post and parcel industry
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Num. of web pages/modules: Approx 6
Description of requirements/features: We are seeking an individual or organisation to build us a series of web pages creating for use in conjunction with our back end eCommerce database. The web pages may utilise a combination of HTML, CSS, Javascript and JQuery. No database or back end service work is required, our intentions are to import the completed front-end solution to work with our back-end database and pre-processor. The finished project will consist of an archive containing the aforementioned files that will be deployed on our server and connected to the back end.
Our organisation (51T) develops and manufactures Rugged PDA and Handheld Computer accessories ranging from desktop chargers to holsters and vehicle cradles for installation into vehicles operating in the post & parcel and retail industries. Our existing website shows how information is loaded and presented from our existing back end database and can be found at the following URL:
http://www.51t.co.uk
Below are examples of websites for companies that relate to our own business and are stylistically what we want to acheieve with this project whilst creating an original design and layout:
http://www.cradle.se
http://www.brodit.com
http://www.igrip.us/
The web pages we require building are as follows. Whilst we provide some sample links to are existing site, we do not want to replicate the layout/graphics/fonts/etc:
1. Master Page – A master layout that all web pages in the project include (example: Header including content access menu, content area, footer)
2. Home Page – Containing the following elements:
a. A slide-show control showing up to 5 advertisements for key product lines. The graphics for the slide-show control must also be provided in an editable format for future use (e.g. psd file) Example: http://www.cradle.se/sv/start/ - top of site
b. An area for some brief introductory text on what the company does
c. A horizontal list of key product categories (up to 4) – Example: http://www.brodit.com/brodit.html?pn=home – middle section
d. A horizontal list of key/top selling products (up to 10) – Example: http://www.brodit.com/brodit.html?pn=home – below the middle section
3. Sections/Categories Page - A page which displays a list of product categories or sections from our backend database. These are top level sections containing an image and some text. Under seach section are a series of products. (Example http://www.51t.co.uk/page.php?xPage=productshome)
4. Section/Category Product Browser – A page that displays a list of products under a specific section or category. When clicking a product link, the user is navigated to the ‘Product Page’ (Example: http://www.51t.co.uk/section.php/5/1/mc70_75)
5. Product Page – A page which displays information on a specific product from our backend database. This page typically contains a master product image, one or more smaller product images and descriptive text for the product such as a product description, specification and usage guide. A list of associated or similar products are typically shown on this page as well (Example: http://www.51t.co.uk/product.php/51/mc70_75_cradle_suction_mount_and_cigarette_plug_bundle)
6. Contact Us Page – Contains a page with controls to allow a user to contact our organisation with a general query (the code required to contact us will be handled in house) (Example: http://www.51t.co.uk/contact.php)
7. Generic Content Page – A generic page to handle text content from the backend CMS database (e.g. Privacy Policy, Sales Terms, Copyright Notice, etc. – Example: http://www.51t.co.uk/page.php/terms)
Design Guidelines:
1. Adhere to web standards when creating the HTML and CSS files
2. If developing any custom Javascript for the solution, adhere to the development standards
3. Use a fluid layout to ensure the site renders correctly on all resolutions at and above 1366x768
4. Do not use any 3rd party or copyrighted components without providing acknowledgement of the author(s) to 51T
5. Create an original, clean and modern design for our business. Do not copy directly from the externally links provided
Please note: We are only accepting responses from indviduals or organisations based in the United Kingdom and that have experience in constructing websites for corporate entities in the electronics/manufacturing industry.
The winning bidder will receive full support from our organisation in terms of approving designs, site graphics and also providing test content from our backend database.
