Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
General information for the business: We provide Human Resource Management for construction
Kind of development: Customization of existing program
Num. of modules: 3
Description of every module: Each module has the same effort: We need to create a technical specification from the current application so a developer can use this to create a new application on another platform.
Current:
Mod 1 - is a 2007 MS Access forms based system connected to a SQL Server database.
Mod 2 - is a 2007 MS Access forms based system connected to a SQL Server database.
Mod 3 - is a 2007 MS Access forms based system connected to a MS Access database.
Future:
Mod 1 - will be a Webforms based system connected to a SQL Server database.
Mod 2 - will be a Winforms based system connected to a SQL Server database.
Mod 3 - will be a Winforms based system connected to a SQL Server database.
Description of requirements/functionality: The EFFORT is:
To document each element on each screen with: Label/title, field type, field (example data), field size, any regEx on the field, field required/not.
To document how the element is being populated: stored procedure being called, database / table being accessed,.
To document an ERD of the schemas. NOTE: This is to be done in Visual Paradigm. The ERD is created by a connection string and menu selection.
The need here is for someone with:
1. an understanding of MS Access and able to move around the IDE to document forms, scripts, functions, stored procs or sql.
2. an understanding of database schema to understand where data is being stored, accessed, updated.
3. ability to load MS Access 2007 on a VM or local OS. NOTE: 2007 will not work on Windows10.
Specific technologies required: SQL Server, MS Access, Visual Paradigm
OS requirements: Windows
Extra notes: Visual Paradigm is the tool that needs to host this documentation. In the end, this tool will save countless hours. I am not paying for an education of Visual Paradigm; however. If you are already familiar with Visual Paradigm, you will have an advantage over those that do not.
If you are a software engineer - this should be simple (albeit mundane) task.
The follow on to this task will be to create the Future systems. I do not expect that the person doing this work will also be the one doing the future...however, if you are qualified to do both you will have an advantage as you will have intimate knowledge of the current systems.
