Description
Experience Level: Expert
Information for the business: We want to sell game ties for the shooting + food industry. This is a NDA
Design details: Dear Product Designers,
Marsden-Tout is writing to you to request your assistance with a project of ours. We would like some help with product development.
Our idea is to create an easier way of tying game birds together (for example pheasants and partridge at a shoot). Currently the method is to cut up bailer twine in to short individual pieces and tie the birds together. This method is time consuming and tiresome. Having spoken to people in the shooting industry, they have said a product like this would be very useful, and more importantly, it would make the food chain safer, from the day shot to the moment eaten, the date and place shot would be on the tags. This would create a much better food chain with safer food security.
Marsden-Tout was then founded in early 2014 with the aim of solving this problem. Progress with product development has been very slow as the company consists of myself and two other 16 year olds who have just sat our GCSE’s. We have developed a solution to the problem on paper, and believe it will work, but we need help with the development of the product as a CAD model, and as a prototype. The tags themselves will be made of nylon, and they will function much like a conventional cable tie, other than a few crucial differences.
Money could perhaps be a spanner in the works for us as you can imagine we do not have much investment. Although the market is small, I hope the cost of production will be even smaller as it would be a simple injection moulded design. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely
Marsden-Tout founders:
Richard St. Pier
Hamish Kelway-Bamber
Benedict Aldous
Ideas for the visual style: We have sketches of the solution already
Extra notes: We need to make a 3D CAD prototype then it is just a case of injection moulding.
