Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
General information for the website: The aim of this project is to build an interface that allows users to browse available seminars taking place over a 5 day event in a multi-room venue.
Description of requirements/features: The data for each seminar will include:
- Seminar title
- Seminar description
- Seminar keywords
- Speaker name
- Speaker description
- Room/location
- Date
- Start time
- End time
- Session active (hide if false)
There are two user areas;
- Admin Area – where our client can edit the seminar data above and add new seminars
- Public Area – where users can view the seminars in an easy to read and searchable format
Our client has requested that the seminar data is presented in a similar style to an Electronic Programme Guide – such as you would use to browse programmes on your TV and see what’s coming up.
In the Public Area we would like a keyword search feature, where the user can select from a list of keywords/keyphrases and in the agenda only sessions that have been tagged with that keyword/phrase would be highlighted.
Clicking on a session should allow the user to see a full description, times, speaker name and location.
At the moment my thinking is we could use something like the Telerik Scheduler - http://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/web/scheduler/index.html . To save time, rather than developing two interfaces for Admin and Public it could be set up such that the Public see a read-only version, and the Admin sees the same thing but has editing capabilities, including being able to click on it to get a dialog box with fields as described above. FYI I have not looked into this further than looking at the demo page.
All code would need to be well structured and well commented, as we will need to integrate it within an existing web site once completed.
This should be built on the Microsoft .NET platform, ideally with an MVC v3 structure. The database used should be MS SQL Server.
Please note that our timeline is tight – the tool must be complete by 20 May 2014. Please do not bid on this work unless you are confident that you can deliver in that time. I will work with you to ensure you have a full a brief as possible and are not held up.
Specific technologies required: Microsoft .NET, ideally with an MVC v4 structure. The database used should be MS SQL Server
