Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Design details: Greetings,
I am wondering if you can help us. I used to be a carpenter, but now (20 years later) I know a process that allows people to free themselves from the achy stiffness that seems to take over out bodies. (See bodyworkforpainreleif.com for more info). I believe I have the answer to this problem. So, we are building a healing center on our property.
I tried to do the load calculations myself but got stuck at the thrust loads in the tension band on the structure we are trying to do
Attached is an image and plan to a building that is similar , and my preliminary drawing that shows the structure I am thinking of.
Can you help us spec the beams? center skylight by others 8' square opening
. 6:12 pitch. Conventional rafters sit on top of glulam structure. tension band might be LVL or glulam. A single story building.
Needing an elegant solution. Not overbuilt.
Structure located near Ann Arbor Michigan, for appropriate snow loads.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
-Eric
