Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
We operate a directory website offering free and paid listings, banner advertising and cross-marketing of related services.

The development of the website is at an early stage as we have been testing the concept, which we're now settled with, and it's now a case of completing the user interface and adding/obtaining content. We're currently carrying a large proportion of free listings purely so that we can show content, get ranked, and test our concepts.

During 2009 we would like to develop and execute a marketing plan for the website and bring on board an experienced marketer(s) to work with us on agreeing the service offerings & marketing plan, then taking charge of going out and getting the business.

There are VERY limited funds available to work through the next stages and these are all committed to finalising the design aspects of the site and transferring it from a shared hosting environment to a scaleable web platform.

Therefore the marketing person(s) we work with will be working on a commission-only structure and this could be on a piecework basis in your own free time.

From our research into the field, we expect our advertising packages to be charged at between £25 and £295 per annum, and as a starting position we anticipate paying a 50% commission for year 1 plus an ongoing 10% commission for subsequent years that are successfully reinvoiced. The two primary packages being sold would be at the £25 and £100 per annum price points; at the lower end we expect little more than a single telephone call or an email will complete the sale. At the upper end there may well be a requirement to generate and consolidate limited amounts of paperwork/data to complete the sale. How the marketing aspects would be executed is up for discussion and if it is felt that an additional admin role is appropriate then we can discuss this however this would reduce potential sales commission.

We anticipate that the potential customer base is in the order of 30,000-50,000 businesses in the UK and whilst our concept isn't unique, it has some unique aspects not found on other similar directories. Anyone with experience of selling advertising to hotels (independent and chains) would be of particular interest to us.

We accept that the above information is quite limited. This is our first project of this type and we're looking for someone with relevant experience to help plug our skills gap.

We look forward to receiving your responses and bids, following which we will issue NDAs to those parties we feel might we might be able to work with. Post NDA we will then release full details about the project and we can then enter into discussions about how it all might work!!

This is a truly freelance opportunity. We do not have premises and you will be expected to meet all your own costs in undertaking the work we agree falls into your remit. All we will be paying is the commission agreed once we receive cleared payment from the sale targets.
