I need help to finalise the closing sales blurb on my website for my book "How to fix depression".
I want you to name your price to help re-edit the website and nail down the closing spiel.
I spent three years researching and writing a book to help sufferers beat depression. It is good sound practical advice and based around a radical new model of understanding depression. I believe it can really help people and I put my heart and soul into it.
I am getting encouraging traffic to the website, but disappointingly few actual sales. A modest ROI would be obviously welcome for the time, expense and effort I put into this, but, to be honest, my prime motivation is actually just to get this out to help other sufferers simply because I know how it feels to suffer this miserable condition. Thankfully I beat it using the information I discovered in my research, so I do want to share for a genuine reason.
I have tried many versions of a marketing/sales speil, but I just can't seem to get it right. (I think I am too close to the woods to see the trees). I am going quietly nuts trying to make this effective simply so people will appreciate they can get the help they need to get better in this book, it is not even expensive. So why is it not selling? There certainly is plenty of evidence that millions of people are suffering with depression, there must be a need - why am I not able to persuade people this book will help?. In fact it could be the single most beneficial investment in their mental well-being they could make.
I need help, and advice to get this message across please.
The first job would be to help me rewrite the landing page, maybe the whole site. I can easily do the editing of the website, but I need advice on what to put in there, and maybe what to leave out.
If that is successful there might be more work, because I would definitely like to consider a full marketing strategy to help promote the book in other ways. The problem now is I can't throw any more money at this for huge marketing fees, so I need a low budget option.
I think it might help me if I felt that the bidder perhaps has some empathy with the condition of depression, either from personal experience or family or friends and therefore possibly has some motivation to help me to spread this message.
Obviously I can provide a copy of the book to interested parties (on the basis of signing a non-disclosure agreement). Ideally in e-book format as this is obviously cheaper, easier and quicker.
As a rough estimate, I figure it should take only about a couple of hours in total to read the book itself, (255 pages, with some illustrations and white space and a certain amount of reference "resources") and then, I think someone with marketing expertise would be able to write the sales spiel fairly quickly, so in total I think am looking for around maybe 4 hours of your time initially.
I am also open to advice on restructuring the book to some extent and possibly redesigning the cover too.
I only want to deal with fluent English First-Language speakers and potentially chat on Skype or telephone to discuss. I won't tie it down to the UK, but it might be useful to meet personally.
Above all, I need honesty and experience.
Thanking you in anticipation and looking forward to receiving your proposals.
regards, Ian Borland.
P.S. I would like to thank everyone for the EXCELLENT responses so far. FYI the website URL for review is http://www.nutrition-vs-depression.com
