Description
Experience Level: Expert
I need a cover design for a YA fiction novel, the first in a series of 6. The first book is called: "THE ACADEMY OF LIGHT"The protagonist, Eyre is a fourteen year old girl who suddenly discovers she is part of a secret community of people with special powers – “Lightworkers”. Lightworker children must apply to attend the “Academy of Light” through a testing process that takes ten weeks. Along the way, Eyre has clashes with the dark forces – the Gothak, who killed her parents only a month before Eyre started the testing.
The “Academy of Light” is the first in a series of six books about Light versus Dark powers. Central to the story is a symbol, the Inguz, which is representative of light and goodness. The symbol is shaped like the attachment but turned horizontally.
I thought a design on a dark cover with a large Inguz in silver would be striking, since it is so important in the series. The protagonist is fair and has long red hair – I thought perhaps a design with her in the foreground and a hulking shapeless form behind her with evil red eyes might work, but I’m open to ideas. The main part of this book is about her training and trials to get into the Academy, but the main theme for the six books is the battle between good and evil, the Lightworkers and the Gothak. Ultimately the fate of the world will rest on the outcome of Eyre’s actions
