Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
BACKGROUND:
I’m a one-man consultancy that is increasingly working with a growing portfolio of clients and Joint-venture consultancy partners. I have historically done my own bookkeeping using Quicken (98) and simply handed over a single arch-lever file to my accountant for preparing final end-of-year accounts.

I need a new accountant that can quickly prepare end of year accounts for a set/hourly, and then potentially take-over some bookkeeping to reduce the workload on me.

I would also like to move from Quicken to Quickbooks.

THE WORK WILL INCLUDE:
1. Preparing final accounts (urgently) from well filed material, i.e.:
a. Expenses - invoiced (paid via business current account)
b. Expenses - recepted (paid via cash/director i.e. myself) • normally just travel & subsistence
c. Current account statements - 1 per month
d. Deposit account statements • 3 deposit accounts
e. Sales • currently a handful of invoices per month, but lower that than before now
f. VAT returns
g. Contractual and statutory information
2. Starting to take over all aspects of bookkeeping
a. Maintainging accounts in Quickbooks
b. Invoicing
c. Processing expenses
d. Preparing VAT returns
e. Reconciling payments and resolving invoice & payment quries

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to prepare accounts for a Limited company
2. Own copy of QuickBooks
3. Familiarity with accounting packages from Intuit, and others such as Sage.
4. Corporate / personal Tax knowledge an advantage
5. Applicants local to Watford/St. Albans Area where I am based are preferred
6. Proactive
7. Results oriented
8. Self-starter
9. Good general PC & Internet skills
10. Immediate Start

NEXT STEPS:
I posted this requirement originally on 27-05-2010, but have now updated it with further information and detail, and invite you to confirm or revise your bids for a decision in the next 2-3 days (around Monday 14th June) for immediate start.
The initial workload from Monday 14th June preparing end of year accounts will be be higher than the more regular bookkeeping workload • though this is expected to braoded-out and increase: For the right candidate this may extend into a rolling or long term arrangement with increasing responsibility, scope, (and fees).
