LEAFLET two pages (front/back)
Foliar feeding, helps your leaves flowers & Buds,
Get your fertilizer right there were it belongs.
Principle
Plants absorb water, fertilizer macro- & micro elements through their roots, but photosynthesis — the manner by which plants create their sugars or fuel — occurs in the leaves. Therefore, plants need to get fluids macro- & micro elements nutrients from the ground up through their stems to their parts that are above ground level.
Plants, like all living beings, have a vascular tissues (xylem) system, which transports water and minerals up from the roots to the leaves. Plant also have phloem, a medium for sugar-rich fluid (sap) which transports sugar molecules, amino acids, and hormones both up and down through the plant, for example to the fruits or flowers.
WHY…. Should you use feeding through the plant leaves, flowers & buds?
Plant use energy to get fertilizer’s marco- & mirco-elements from the roots to their leaves. In the leaves the Photosynthesis takes place resulting in sugars and fuel for fruits and other parts of the plant. But not all elements are easy to transport or readily available near the roots.
Take Phosphorus (p) for example one of the key Macro-elements (NPK), Phosphorus is a very immobile element in mediums and can only be absorbed in the direct surroundings of the (fine/small) –roots, even if there is enough Phosphorus in the medium, there can still be a (temporally) shortage of Phosphorus in some cases around the roots (University of Wageningen Holland). Foliar feeding, through the open foliar/leave-stoma’s at the flip-side of the leaves, gives the plant just that bit of extra Phosphorus to make the plant prosper and have a more stable nutrient scale that brings in a better balance and produces higher yields on crops.
METROP SOLUTION on leave-, bud- spraying
Foliar feeding for professionals in a horticulture environment is a common cost-efficient practice of supplying nutrients to plants through their foliage. Foliar- or leave-feeding involves spraying water-dissolved fertilizers directly on the leaves however most nutrients can’t normally be taken in by plant- leaves or fruit!
To be able to be absorbed by the plants-leaves nutrients and fertilizers need an extra substance the ‘wetting-agent’. A wetting-agent is changing the tan of the surfaces so that the macro- & micro elements can be absorbed by the plant.
As a fertilizers brand for professionals all Metrop plant foods contain a ‘wetting-agent’ by default.
PAGE 2
METROP Foliar-feeding 20% - 30% more yield
We don’t like to brag, but independent tests have proven many times that with the use of METROP’s MR2 and Calgreen at the flowering stage crops grow bigger and better, resulting in higher yields and more taste. Therefore we recommend that, in addition to the regular nurture-scheme, to apply easy applicable foliar-feed by spraying the plants to provide that extra boost, plants can really use.
