Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the business: We are a brick & mortar shop on a busy Bar & Restaurant Street in Malaysia
Industry: Food and Beverage
Design details: Concept Idea:
Contemporary Interpretation of a Colonial Style "Rum Bar"
Bar is to feature largest selection of Rums available in Malaysia - offers dinner
Please take note:
Rum is refered to by many as a "Tiki Style Cocktail Ingredient" (refer to Trader Vic, Smuggler's Cove websites doing the Tiki Style)
-> We DO NOT want to emphasize the Tiki Ambiance but rather interpret The Rum Bar as an equivalent to a "Whisky & Cigar Den" ambiance)
Required:
1.Comfortable yet space saving seating arrangement according to Space Plan - ideally different seating styles mixed up (Booth, Table & Chair, Sofa) (some seating arrangements must have ability to dine, not too bulky, preferably not standard table & chair heights but slightly lower to enhance "Bar Feel" [e.g. comfy but slim leather armchair?])
-> "Style, look and feel" of furniture up to designer if above is adhered to! :-)
2. Bar Counter and Bottle Shelf Bar Backdrop Design and Position
-> (According to attached Space Plan, Outlet is segmented in front alfresco, middle and back. It is a long slim space which complicates design matters to some degree. Current client feedback is that outlet looks like a "tunnel" and doesn't entice walk in due to dull appearance on front, so inviting/ welcoming front design is encouraged! Alfresco can potentially be boxed up so your creative input is appreciated)
3. Propose / Specify Floor Finish (Tile Patterns?, Concrete?, Wood? Laminate?)
4. Propose / Specify Wall Interior Decoration (Features?, Ornaments?, Paraphernalia? Drawings?, Pictures?)
5. Propose / Specify Ceiling Finish (Colour? Material? Design?)
6. Propose Light Fittings
The overall appearance of the venue should exude comfort, classiness and mystery with a touch of playfulness (aligned with above Concept Idea)
Since we would have to carry a substantial par-stock level of Rum Labels, Cabinets/ Showcase Cabinets as wall feature might be useful (to be integrated into design proposal)
Target audience: trend savy, lifestyle conscious consumer market aged 25 and above, middle to upper income bracket, not high-end since located on a very busy bar and pub stretch in the city centre)
Ideas for the visual style: Photo-realistic
Things to avoid: Not too "clean", but not too "kitsch"
Urls to draw inspiration from: http://www.thelobo.com.au/
Extra notes: Goal:
- To get photo-realistic impressions (3 Perspectives: Front, Back , Proposed Bar) of an interior design idea
- Upon approval of initial 3d renderings project can potentially be furthered into provision of construction drawings
- Please find attached Space Plan with measurements as well as picture of Alfresco/ Frontage of actual outlet that needs to be re-designed
