I engaged this freelancer for a website project via an agreed fixed price. Communication was polite throughout; however, the project progressed much more slowly than expected, meaning the service launch was delayed, costing us revenue, and required significant follow-up. After accepting the original proposal (and me therefore declining other bids), I was later informed that the project would cost substantially more than initially agreed (5 X more). This put me in a difficult position and was disappointing given the fixed-price agreement. Ultimately, we completed a large portion of the work ourselves using online resources. The experience did not meet the expectations set at the outset. I would recommend that future clients ensure scope, deliverables and pricing are very clearly defined in writing before proceeding.

Our initial discussions and agreement were based on the development of one website. However, once the detailed brief was shared, the scope expanded to include three separate and substantially larger websites, which significantly increased the amount of work involved. For this reason, I mentioned that the budget would need to be revised to reflect the expanded scope. However, the budget was never increased to five times the original amount, and in fact it was not even doubled.

As the project proceeded, we ultimately worked on and completed the single website that was originally agreed upon. Throughout the project, I consistently met the deadlines assigned to me. In several instances, progress depended on receiving content and resources from your team, which understandably took some time.

Our communication remained polite and professional at all times, which I truly appreciated, and that is why I was surprised to see such feedback. I value clear collaboration and always aim to deliver work according to the agreed scope.

For future projects, I would simply recommend ensuring that the full scope and number of deliverables are clearly defined at the outset before declining other bids and selecting a freelancer. This helps both parties align expectations and avoid misunderstandings.
