London, GBRight third time...well almost!
As I selected Pankaj largely based on his reviews, it is only fair to submit an honest review of my experience with him.
The bid price was low and whilst that often concerns me, the reviews and ratings were excellent, plus the promise of delivery in my timescale and the offer to fix some minor issues in the source file tipped things in his favour.
However, despite being warm and friendly to deal with, the project was a bit of a nightmare for me, sadly.
It was delivered later than the original commitment and had to go through 3 x separate revisions before 2 of the 3 files were delivered correctly...but after my publishing deadline meaning my book was released with errors in it.
The 2 x mobi files were eventually correctly delivered, but only I then listed all the errors and corrections having reviewed the document myself, including not changing the small number of errors we agreed would be addressed in the first place (around 5-6 typos).
The Word document to be used for Createspace was not delivered with working hyperlinks in the footnotes even after the third revision (despite these being working in the source PDF flle) and so I gave up on that one. It has taken me hours to re-insert the hyperlinks myself after they maintained that they were working (footnote links worlked but footnote hyperlinks were removed and not working).
As a result, I missed my publishing deadline, released a book containing errors, had to do my own quality and error checks, had to wait a full day for each correction request and finally received only 2 usable files out of 3 third time around, with the last one being completed myself.
To be fair, Pankaj was friendly, open and was willing to try and right the wrongs, but at the end of the say, I would rather go for right first time, on time than a friendly, yet error-strewn, hotchpotch service.
My overall assessment is if you are 100% confident that all you need is a straightforward conversion into say a mobi format or from Word to CreateSpace format without a pressing deadline, then Pankaj would probably deliver that ok. However, introduce any degree of complexity, re-work or short timeline and it seemed to all fall apart.
Nice guy, but not a nice experience as a self-publishing author, sorry to say.
