Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of articles: 1
Words per article: 1000
Information for the blog/website: We publish a recruitment and training magazine for people leaving the armed forces
Industry: Publishing/Journalism
Topic: Further Education for Service-leavers
Tone: Instructional/Educational
Outline & Structure: We publish a magazine advising people leaving the armed forces of potential career, training and educational opportunities.
Brief:
Service-leavers returning to civvy street can find that they need to update or augment their qualifications through further study to meet the requirements of the current jobs market. Their experience whilst in the Armed Forces is valuable but may need further certification. With many programmes starting in August/September it’s the right time to be selecting different courses of study and the institutions that best serve their needs.
Service-leavers are in a good position to take advantage of opportunities to study since many will leave with a lump sum that buys them the time to devote to learning whilst at the same time using their eligibility for the Free Degree Scheme as part of their resettlement package.
Other would-be students look on with envy as Service-leavers have that rare advantage of a pressure-free period of resettlement that can be used to properly qualify themselves in the career they aspire to.
Note to writer:
We’d like to underline that studying under the above-mentioned circumstances is an opportunity not to be missed. Describe how working with specific outcomes in mind, Service-leavers should carefully examine the route towards them – understanding the requirements of the jobs market and then selecting the right course for them – perhaps using the comparative reputation/results of different institutions as a guide.
Please also describe the Free Degree Scheme as it relates to Service-leavers.
