I need some questions answered and opinions for how to best manage our google and bing ppc campaigns. A short phone call may get me where I need to go, but a more detailed look at things may be optimum.
We spend about $1,800. per week on advertising costs + 1200 mo for a ppc service. We used to do it all ourselves and spent maybe $800./wk average for ads. I am being told that our sales are a lot higher because of this, and this is true. It would make very good sense for us to spend the extra money to get extra sales. However the way that this has happened is by spending dramaticaly more on our generic terms (eg. africa imports and african imports). This moves us to #1 position for this term, but we get almost all of the top 10 search results through organic search results. My thought is that this may be canabalizing our organic results without much benefit. We always spent higher for these terms; but not this high at all. The theory is that we are spending extra money to get new customers that we would not find otherwise. I am not convinced of this; but it may be correct. It is not easy to measure this the way that things are set up now.
Another part is that we are not running a lot of our long tail search terms that were in different campaigns. These are terms with very low costs and very low traffic, but which generate large profits percentage-wise when there is a sale. Getting these back may not be worth the effort, but it is something else that we have lost and I would like to get another opinion on this.

Hi Wayne,
I have managed PPC and Bing campaigns with exactly the same issue as yours (trying to make the most of both Adwords AND organic position without wasting any money) and I've had great results. May I have your website address? I would then be able to send you a detailed proposal.
Many thanks,
Irina -
