Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
We are an audio transcription company, providing audio transcription services to a wide range of clients throughout the UK and overseas. We transcribe recorded interviews, focus groups, meetings, PACE interviews as well as undertaking straight dictation for SMEs. We transcribe in both an intelligent verbatim and verbatim transcription style and require to meet client deadlines, which can sometimes mean immediate turnaround of work. We have a team of 45 professional audio transcriptionists - all home based - and regularly transcribe around 20,000 audio minutes per month.
We have a requirement for ad-hoc assistance with the quality control of transcriptions prior to them being returned to clients. This entails:
• Prioritising workload to ensure client deadlines are met
• Checking that the document complies with the in-house transcription style guidelines
• Ensuring that any special requirements instructed by the client have been incorporated
• Undertaking a spot check of the document to ensure that there are no mis-hearings or punctuation errors against the sound recording
• Ensuring that documents are consistent throughout a project with regards to spellings and unusual names/terminology
• Double-checking anything marked as inaudible by the transcriptionist to ensure that it cannot be deciphered
• Undertaking a full proof of a document if required
• Completing the internal administration database with the relevant information
• Uploading the document to the client via the bespoke client web portal
Full training will be given on the role.
The role will be undertaken on a freelance basis, working remotely. The role is ad-hoc with cover being required during busy periods and staff holidays/sickness. At the moment the role entails about 5 working days per month, during the normal working week Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. The dates are agreed in advance. Holiday cover may require 2-3 week full-time periods of work during the normal working week but dates would be agreed well in advance. No guarantee of work can be given, and the ability to work at short notice would be useful should the need occur.
The role would suit someone with transcription experience. We can provide the necessary software and transcription hardware if required but there is a requirement for own PC equipment and a good internet connection - preferably BT Infinity or equivalent. A good ear for accents is an advantage.
