Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Work sent in small batches (1 to 2 days work at a time) over the course of 4 to 6 weeks
I am looking for either a native English speaker or someone with very high proficiency in English to edit interview transcripts. The interviews are for a book & podcast I am preparing about cities.
I have used Happy Scribe to prepare transcripts of all the interviews but I would like each transcript to be:
- proofread against the recordings to remove any mistakes and mis-interpretations
- organised into paragraphs (Happy Scribe's tendency is to create small sections of text that do not always represent the flow of the answer)
- have names of each speaker identified according to sections of the transcript
- clearly organised into questions and answers
- when proofing is complete, exported as MS Word Doc with Timestamps & Speaker Names. Add the name of each interviewee to the top of the MS Word Doc
- return edited transcripts in batches
I suggest using Happy Scribe to edit the transcripts as the platform integrates the recordings and is very user-friendly. Then finishing touches in MS Word. The material below contains sample images of one of the interviews in Happy Scribe, the export window and the version that appears in MS word.
There are around 70 interviews that are between 40 minutes and an hour long on average. One or two interviews are between one or two hours.
This work will take place in phases. The first phase will consist of 12 interviews (around 1 - 2 days work).

This is why these programmes are not good, and is why a transcriber should be used, who listens, types correctly, formats, proofreads etc. In the time it takes to go through what the programme has produced, it could have been manually transcribed, correctly.
