Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Not the most subject to tackle, but I need to have an article written on the subject of importation of a specific type property and the VAT implications for the consumer. To complicate matters a bit, you will have to conduct some desk research and contact customs in your country to inquire what the EU approach is of those goods which have been in the EU for years, but are British owned.
The basics of the article are covered by two articles, which of course I will supply. I think some 85% of the content can be found in these articles.
The audience, for which the article is meant, is the consumer in general that has very basic knowledge how VAT works. Some are business owners and understand matter very well, others who hardly deal with VAT at all. At least not consciously, as we all pay VAT of goods we purchase.
Besides the VAT issue, import duties are a matter to be covered. Consumers buy the property from outside the EU and import it, without realising that they are subject to VAT and import duties. The import duties are a fixed percentage which is the same in all EU states.
The article, or blog if you like, has to approach the subject matter in such a way that it appeals to a broad audience. Not making it technical, if can be avoided. Something in the line of “VAT & Import duties for Dummies” would best fit the type of article I would like to have composed.
You will have to be experienced in writing (constructing) content for websites, in the sense that you know the difference between web content and, let us say, an article for print. Tone of voice should be to the point and no literary essay, if you know what I mean. UK English has a preference above American English.
The blog post/article should consist anywhere between 1300 and 1500 words. Mind you these are no fixed figures as the aim of the article may not suffer under any word count restrictions.
