Product descriptions required for large online retail company - long term vacancy

Potential Candidate,

BuySend.com is one of the largest retail companies in the UK, stocking over 50,000 individual products. All of these products at some point have had their product description entered into our online system.

Until now, when writing these product descriptions we have been primarily focusing on speed. We have either copied what was written on the product packaging or used parts of various online descriptions to construct a description of our own as quickly as possible. We feel this rushed approach has cost us sales, with potential customers being put off by the poorly written descriptions.

A much better description would have been:
- Precision Training linesman flag set
- Features orange and yellow bright chequered flags
- Durable alloy poles with foam handles
- Includes protective carry sleeve
- This flag set is perfect for any sport requiring a linesman

We are looking for ONE candidate to re-write 1300 of our product descriptions from one of our sporting goods suppliers, that we feel has poorly written product descriptions. Please bear in mind that you will be working on a SPORTING GOODS supplier when submitting your proposal for this work. Once all descriptions have been successfully rewritten we can assess the sales from these products to see if there has been an uplift. If we see an uplift in sales we will discuss a plan to move forward and re-write descriptions for the remaining 50,000 products in our system.

The key aspects we feel to writing a great description are as follows:
- Write at least 150 characters
- Write at least 4 lines of text
- Really try and sell the product to the potential buyer – explain why this is the perfect product for them etc.

If you have any previous experience on how you could really sell our products to our customers without having the actual product to hand, please include this in your proposal. Please also detail any further advice, knowledge or information that you feel makes you the perfect candidate for this job.
