I need a bit of help with a community website i'm building.
I've already set up an online shop www.littlepenguin.co.uk and have set up a separate wordpress installation at https://www.littlepenguin.co.uk/community/
The idea is that this community section will allow registered users to contribute content in three ways:
1. A market place
This is just a simple classified ads section where users can posts items for sale or free. The ads will show pictures and a description etc and allow visitors to contact the seller through an online form or phone / email etc. Ads will stay live for say 30 days and then automatically be removed. Ads can be 'featured' by paying a set fee, e.g. £5, which will allow them to appear on the homepage or top of the category etc.
2. Places to visit
Registered users will be able to add new places to visit, including pictures and descriptions etc. The place should be verified by an admin before going live. Users should be prompted if the place already exists, and asked if they want to add photos, reviews, or info to the existing place instead. Rather similar to TripAdvisor. All visitors can browse places to visit, along with the community reviews, photos and info for that place. Registered users can add content to an existing place.
Places do not expire, and stop on the site indefinitely.
3. Events
Registered users can add an event. This is similar to marketplace, in which they can add contact details, photos, description etc. They can also add the date of the event, and the listing will not be removed until the day after the event has finished. The registered user needs to pay a fee to add an event, e.g. £5.
All these three things need to be displayed on a map as location pins. I.e when the registered user creates one they enter a location too. Visitors should be able to browse the map and click on the pins to go to the relevant ad / place / event page.
Visitors should be able to search / filter all sections by category, keyword and location etc.
I've already had a go at setting something up using https://themeforest.net/item/classifieds-classified-ads-wordpress-theme/13481676 so you are welcome to continue to use this, or feel free to start from scratch.
