Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hello! I am an author and have started development on my website to support my work, using Squarespace. I have an idea of what I want, but I can tell that the website is missing something. The website has to look good and provide an awesome experience for the person who enters it.
I am seeking someone who can assist me with this . While I have definite ideas, I do not want to spend my time becoming a website expert, which takes away from other activities I need to focus on.
A couple of things I have in mind:
1. When someone enters the site, I want it to be cool. I don't want "website" to be the first word, nor do I want "author" to be the first word that comes to mind. "Creative" "Cool" "I like this"
2. The site must be easy to navigate. While it will highlight the books I sell, it will also provide other experiences (works available gratis such as poetry, short stories, etc). I don't like websites that are not easy to figure out immediately (ie, getting to something specific should not take 10 clicks).
3. Think of the concept of Blink by Malcolm Gladwell - in the span of a few brief seconds you can get a feel for something or someone and it is very often extremely accurate.
4. I like images and cool pictures.
Obviously, I'll provide the person I work with access to what I've done already, provide some thoughts on what I like and don't like about what I've done, and go from there. I'm not sold on any web tool (have not purchased yet on Squarespace), so if you are more comfortable with another tool and it supports what I'm after, that's fine.
One other thing...I want to work with someone who likes to collaborate. I am big on that. You don't have to have a lot of experience - I want the person I work with to be fun and enjoy his/her work.
One final thing regarding Experience Level. I've selected Intermediate, but if you consider yourself Entry and believe you are good at what you do, please feel free to contact me as well. While price will be an important aspect of who I work with, the feel I have for how to work with someone will be of higher importance to me. I am more of a face-to-face person, so if we live thousands of miles apart, I would want to Skype/Facetime/Phone on occasion.
