Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
General information for the website: Search for audio clips based on the speech within the audio
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: I am looking to create a website, the main function of which, will be to enable users to search for a word or phrase and the search results will display a list of different audio clips all containing the phrase or word which was searched.
The user will then be able to preview these audio clips and download them.
I have a large number of audio clips, and I also have files containing the time-coded text of all the speech contained in each corresponding audio file.
So...
1. User types in a search phrase "x", a search is performed on all the time coded text files.
2. Search results are that the phrase "x" appears in audio files "y" at 00:33:28 (hh:mm:ss) & "z" at 00:55:54.
This is where it gets tricky
3. The user is presented with a list of search results in order of relevance telling them which audio files have matched their search criteria.
4. Clicking on a result will take them to an audio preview of the clip, 'zoomed in' to the part of the clip which includes their search criteria.
5. Perhaps they can adjust the end point of the audio preview to their liking and then hit download.
6. An mp3 file is generated from the area of the audio clip they have selected and the user downloads this file
I'm not sure if this is even possible and i'm sure its quite complicated. So if anybody can think of any easier ways to get the same end result then please do get in touch to discuss. I'd love to bounce some ideas back and forth!
An alternative I have thought about which could well be easier, is chopping up the audio files into smaller clips at my end, and time-stamping them.
The user would then be presented with an audio preview of the specific clip which contains their search term and the option to download it.
I hope I have made some sense and I hope that somebody can help me out!
Once I have established in which way this is possible and found the right person to actually create it, I will be willing to negotiate a fee!
I'm really looking for someone to discuss the ideas with that they can then create for a one off fee.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Cris Jarvis
