We're looking for an experienced video editor to join our paranormal YouTube channel (50k Subs) and help turn our investigation footage into polished, almost TV-style paranormal episodes.

Our Current Channel with it's content is https://www.youtube.com/@myhauntedproject/ - So you get a vibe for who we are, we want our episodes to take the next step

This is not a traditional vlog. We want the finished content to feel like a proper paranormal documentary/investigation programme, with strong storytelling, atmosphere, tension and pacing.

? THE CONTENT

Our investigations are primarily based at a 400+ year-old haunted hotel in Chester.

Episodes can include:

Investigation footage
Interviews and conversations
CCTV/evidence footage
Pre-recorded commentary and narration
Footage of investigators reviewing and discussing evidence
Drone footage
Music, sound design and graphics

We'll provide the footage, relevant CCTV/evidence, commentary and the general story/direction for each episode. Scripts and storyboards may also be provided where appropriate.

? WHAT WE NEED

Episodes will be approximately 20–30 minutes, initially produced fortnightly, with the intention of moving to weekly production as the channel grows.

For each episode, we'd like the editor to produce:

• A finished 20–30 minute YouTube episode
• A promotional trailer for the episode
• Short-form social ready content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts

- if able to create engaging thumbnails for each episode this a bonus.

The Shorts/Reels should be properly edited for social media, with strong hooks, captions, snappy pacing and appropriate vertical formatting — not simply random clips taken from the main episode.

? CREATIVE INPUT IS WELCOME

We'll give you the story, direction and key material, but we're not looking for someone who simply follows instructions and assembles footage.

We want an editor who can use their own creative and editorial judgement where appropriate.

If you think a scene would work better structured differently, a piece of evidence should be introduced earlier, or there's a better way to build tension around a moment — tell us.

In short:

We'll provide the story and direction. You help us tell it in the most engaging way possible.

We want someone who can eventually understand the style of the channel and make those creative decisions naturally.

? WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience with paranormal content isn't essential. We're particularly interested in editors with experience in:

Documentary / factual entertainment
TV-style YouTube content
Reality or investigative programmes
True crime
Story-driven YouTube channels
Short-form social media

Strong storytelling, pacing, audio and attention to detail are more important than simply having paranormal experience.

? LONG-TERM WORK

We're looking for a long-term editing partner, rather than a one-off freelancer.

There may also be additional work in the future, including video podcasts, standalone YouTube videos, promotional content and other projects.

No Budget set - we do have a ceiling and would prefer to pay on a per episode package basis (Episode, Trailer, Short, Thumbnail) - We would aim to be providing around 2-3 hours of footage for a 30 minute or so episode. If you have a rough estimate on your price range, please let us know.
