I'm looking for someone to audio record an extract from my novel Sybernika. The extract in question is just over 22,000 words long. The recording can be sent to me as an mp3 or similar sound file.
Having read bits of it out loud, I reckon we're looking at 1000 = 5 minutes. Which translates to 12000 words per hour. So in theory the whole thing should take 2 hours. However, to allow for comfort breaks, clearing of throat etc, I'm happy to double that to 4 hours.
The extract is a first-person account from a lady who's been through an horrendous ordeal. That said, I need the commentary to be presented in a dry, matter-of-fact manner. And where other characters are being quoted, I don't want her voice to change. Basically, she's beyond feeling sorry for herself and is presenting a report rather than telling a story. There should be absolutely no acting, if you get what I mean.
I can edit the product myself, so if you fluff, have a coughing fit or whatever, don't worry about erasing it. Just redo the fluffed bit (if there is one) and carry on.
What do you think? Are you up for this? Does 4 hours sound reasonable?
