WordPress Website with WooCommerce + Paywall (Membership Area)

We are looking for an experienced WordPress developer to build a professional, English-language website for a new book titled “Principles of Corporate Valuation and Discounting.” The website will function not only as a small webshop (3–4 product variants), but also as a paid knowledge platform with a membership paywall.

Our agency will provide design direction, content, hosting environment and project management. We are looking for a developer to handle the technical build, setup and configuration inside WordPress.

The authors expect an international audience (practitioners + university students).
The site must therefore be fast, secure, well-structured and easy to manage.

Scope of Work
1. WordPress Setup
- Fresh WordPress installation (English).
- Theme setup (lightweight theme such as Astra, GeneratePress or preferred alternative).
- Basic page structure creation:
* Home
* Shop with products (one per book variant)
* About the Authors
* Knowledge Access (paywalled)
* Contact


2. WooCommerce Webshop (3–4 Products)

- Install and configure WooCommerce.
- Setup 3–4 book variants (hardcover, softcover, e-book, bundle).

Product pages with:
- Pricing
- Cover images
- Descriptions
- SKU / attributes
- Configure international shipping:
- Integrate Stripe Payments (Dutch iDeal, Credit Card, SEPA, etc.).

Test entire order & checkout flow.

3. Membership Paywall / Knowledge Base
A key part of this project is the paid knowledge section, accessible only after payment.

Required:

- Install and configure a membership/paywall

Setup:

- 1 paid membership level (“Knowledge Access”)
- Automatic account creation after payment
- Automatic access emails
- Access restrictions for specific pages & downloads
- Knowledge base content will be standard WordPress pages or posts.

Users must be able to:

- Buy the membership through checkout
- Receive login credentials automatically
- Access restricted pages/downloads immediately

4. Downloads Section

- Secure downloads (PDFs or files) available only to members.
- Prevent direct file access (no open URLs).
- Simple layout for listing downloads/articles.

5. Performance & Security

- Image compression, caching setup (via plugin or preferred method).
- Basic hardening (security plugin, login protection).


6. Kotobee Integration
- Authors use Kotobee for e-book distribution.
If Kotobee allows embedding or API access, we want:

* Embed a sample chapter in the site (iframe or API).
* Automatic access to the full e-book after purchase.

Note: This depends entirely on Kotobee’s API.
Please mention in your proposal whether you have experience with Kotobee or similar e-book systems.

7. Delivery & Handover

- Test phase + debugging
- Directly working on our hosting




Required skills

- Strong experience with WordPress + WooCommerce
- Experience with membership/paywall plugins
- Familiar with international payment gateways (Mollie or Stripe is a plus)
- Ability to secure member-only content properly
- Good communication in English
- Clean, structured development approach

Nice to have

- Experience integrating third-party platforms (preferably Kotobee, or similar)
- UI/UX awareness
- Experience building fast, SEO-friendly WordPress websites
