Self-hosted Gitlab checkup

Having a gitlab setup on a cloud hosting platform, I would like someone to have a look at a couple of issues I am encountering with it. Here is the list:
- email notifications don't get sent when I interact with gitlab (on merge request for example)
- looks like I have a DNS problem happening in a specific context

If I find someone who is top notch with setting up a self hosted gitlab, I might have further work for him regarding some CI / CD implementations. That will require solid knowledge with docker and cloud servers but it's all hypothetical at that point. First thing is to fix those issues on the self hosted gitlab.

Cloud servers are a swiss version of jelastic (Hidora).
