Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
To help celebrate our 60th anniversary, we're looking for someone to build a website for a secondary school in the UK for our alumni.
The website will be somewhere ex students can create an account (to be approved), and enter details about themselves, things like:
• The year they left
• Which college they went to
• Which university they went to
• Which subjects they studied
• What jobs they have done / currently do
• Any significant achievements etc. they want to share
They must also be able to share photos and categorise them into categories like:
• School photos (Class/year group)
• School trips/memories
• Career photos (showing them doing their jobs etc.)
There should also be an option for all ex students to volunteer to get involved, with things like:
• Visits to school to talk to the students about their careers
• Share webinars / other content to show the students about their careers
A feature to arrange school reunions would be good too.
There should be an option to include sponsorship to offset the costs of the alumni - our own rather than using Google Adverts etc.
The website will be needed to be viewed by ex students, but also current students, so if it could integrate with Office 365 for a single sign on, that would be preferable, as opposed to leaving all the information publicly viewable.
Due to the nature of the job, someone in the UK would be preferable as it's likely to require further discussions, and having to wait between time zones and with a language barrier may prove tricky.
It should be easy to navigate and enjoyable to view - we want to encourage current students to look back and see what ex students have gone on to do.
This is a project that is definitely going ahead when we find the right developer.
We would like to see examples of other similar projects - not necessary for alumnis, but involving creating accounts / sharing content.
Being a school with diminishing budgets, this isn't something we've got a set budget for, though we know it's an extensive project - the budget specified is open to offers.
It could be something that is launched with basic features and developed once it's launched. But we'd like to get something up and running for when the school returns after the summer holidays at the end of August.
