I have a website that uses PHP and MySQL. The site does initial calculations based on a user's input, then queries a database table to find a subset of rows in a 3 million row table. With the resulting table, the site does another layer of groupby-type calculations and displays the result to the user. From there, the user can use filters and other modifiers/sorters to view results.
My issue is that the process currently takes 3-4 minutes once a user hits the search button. I need someone who understands how to optimize PHP and MySQL queries and calculations to make this much shorter. Looking to get it to operate under 15 seconds. Please respond with any questions you need to know in order to determine if it's feasible.
