Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Hi, I have a website for my small business that was built for me and I'd like to update it now. The web builder gave me a file containing css, images, js and html files. I've discovered that I can update the images myself by replacing old for new. However I know nothing about coding so I don't know how to: 1. Delete two pages I no longer need, 2. Edit one line of text on another page, 3. Remove the links and shift over the buttons on the index page that leads to the two pages I want deleted.
I'm sure this is a really quick and simple job for anyone experienced. Here's a marked up screen shot of the index page that explains the task even better.
3 things I forgot to say:
1. I'm going to update the photos etc this weekend, so I hope to have this job done after that. Monday 18th would be ideal.
2. The person who built the website initially made it really big on the screen (thousands of pixels wide and high), he then made it smaller by scaling the whole thing down. On my browser (google chrome) this looks fine, on some others (explorer I think) it looks a bit strange - personally I'm not worried about that, but I hope the whole scaling issue isn't an obstacle to this little job.
3. The web builder gave me a big file containing all the html pages, links, fonts etc. I uploaded it to my hosting account via an ftp client. I'm not looking for someone to actually go into my hosting and make the changes live. I just want to send the whole file to you (zipped), then you'd send it back to me so I can preview the htmls and links, and upload it all again when I'm ready i.e. so I can choose when to launch the updated site.
Hope that makes sense (I'm not great with the technical language here).
