Improve current stream capturing software
Utilising a TBS PCIe TV tuner card we stream a frequency from the Lyngsat satellite to a localhost port as a TS stream. Leveraging FFMpeg and python we capture the stream and record it to 1-hour long segments.
A second program then takes the TS file and once again utilizing FFmpeg we transcode the file into a mp4 passing the video portion of the stream to a GPU and the audio portion of the stream to the CPU
Current programs are written in python running on a linux ubuntu 18.04 server. We have a test machine we can grant access to for testing purposes.
We need to have access to the recordings in the least amount of time as possible using the least amount of resources. Preferably within 5 min of the end of recording.
Recordings are now broken into 1 hour slots.
