Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: private online web radio station
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1-2
Description of every page/module: The php pages represent the radio station (SAM Broadcaster on MySQL), the pages generate currently playing track, last tracks played and the entire playlist (to make requests from) and on the playlist page that the search engine goes www.bearmetalradio.com/php/playlist.php. At the moment if you search Iron Maiden it will list everything to do with Iron Maiden plus anything to do with Iron, so that's 300+ entries
Description of requirements/features: Hello
I was trying to implement a change to the search engine system of my php website myself, I did a little basic preparatory work and found myself staring at the screen blankly trying the most stupid things.
The big picture is I have a search engine already built in, the listeners can search for band/album/track name, the search engine as is now came with the templates from my web radio station software, and now I would like to improve it and use a drop down menu with 3 fields to search on, so if the person clicks on the drop down menu "album" and he searches Iron Maiden, then it should only return the album name Iron Maiden not the band and all tracks and albums. The results at the moment leave a lot to be desired, when you search for something and it can be in one of 3 fields it returns 100's of entries (relevance). I could manage the little drop down menu form part on the display page, but the code in the class file is just too complex for me. I found all sorts of examples but really that didn't help me. This really requires someone who's got experience with the search engines side of things who can look at the code and understand what's going on, what I don't want is someone who has to learn on the job and costs extra hours as a result.
I am attaching the most important file, the one where the code has to go, so you can evaluate the complexity and price. The function is this one
public static function getPlaylistSongs($search_words, $sort_letter, $start, $limit) {
at line 214
Also what is very important is that this function also serves to display ALL songs in the DB so that part needs to carry on to function as before
Thanks
Extra notes: Arrogant programmers need not apply, just sacked one
