Online Recruitment Platform – Website Development
I’m looking for an experienced developer to advise on, design and build a professional online recruitment platform. Individuals will register their skills, experience and availability, while businesses can register, search profiles and contact suitable people.
I’m looking for a cost-effective solution and would welcome recommendations on the best technology and approach.
1. Individual registration and profiles
Individuals should be able to:
Register securely using an email address and password.
Complete a profile with contact details, experience, skills, qualifications and training.
Select preferred roles and types of work.
Record driving licence categories and relevant experience.
Enter their location, travel preferences and preferred working patterns (full days, half days, mornings, evenings and short notice).
Update their availability daily or whenever it changes.
Log in to edit their details and manage their profile.
Control whether their profile is visible to registered businesses.
Receive enquiries from interested businesses.
2. Business registration and accounts
Businesses should be able to:
Register and manage company and contact details.
Create a profile and specify their operating areas.
Search and view individual profiles.
Contact suitable individuals through the platform or access contact details where permitted.
Manage their account and subscriptions, if applicable.
Different account types should have appropriate access permissions.
3. Search and matching
Businesses should be able to search and filter profiles by:
Location or postcode area.
Role and type of work.
Experience, skills and specialist abilities.
Driving licence categories, qualifications and training.
Availability on particular dates.
Willingness to travel or accept short-notice work.
Results should be clear and easy to navigate.
4. Availability management
Individuals must be able to update availability for specific dates or periods. Businesses should be able to find people available when needed. Availability must be clearly distinguished from a confirmed booking or guarantee of work.
5. Communication
I would like to explore:
An internal messaging or enquiry system.
Email notifications for new messages and enquiries.
Appropriate privacy controls for contact details.
Basic enquiry records where practical.
Please identify which communication features are essential for launch and which could be added later.
6. Administration
I need an administration area to:
View and manage individual and business accounts.
Approve, suspend or remove accounts.
Manage access and reports of misuse.
Edit website content.
Manage subscription settings if applicable.
View basic registration and usage statistics.
Receive notifications about issues requiring attention.
7. Design and technical requirements
The website should:
Have a professional, straightforward design and work on computers, tablets and mobile phones.
Include secure registration, login and password recovery.
Protect personal information through appropriate security and access controls.
Consider UK data protection requirements.
Include suitable backups and security measures.
Be designed with search engine visibility in mind where appropriate.
Please advise on domain registration, hosting, maintenance, software subscriptions and other ongoing costs.
The website should be capable of expanding in future to include paid memberships, online payments and training course listings without requiring a complete rebuild.
8. Quotation required
Please provide separate costs for:
Initial consultation, planning and specification.
Design and development.
Registration, profiles, search and availability features.
Testing, launch and training.
Hosting, maintenance and other recurring costs.
Third-party licences or subscriptions.
Optional features and future additions.
Please include the recommended technology, estimated timescale, examples of similar projects and confirmation of ownership arrangements for the website, source code, domain and associated accounts.
I want to achieve the required functionality without making the initial project unnecessarily expensive.
Budget and quotations
The £200 budget entered is an initial indicative figure to attract suitable developers and receive proposals. It is not a fixed budget for the complete website.
I understand the final cost will depend on the scope and technical approach. Please provide an honest assessment of the likely costs and a breakdown of the different stages. Following review of proposals, I would be willing to discuss a higher budget for the right solution and developer.
Thank you. I look forward to receiving your proposals.

Would you prefer a fully custom build or a leaner platform-based solution to keep within the indicative budget?
-

Hi Patrick,
One question before finalising the scope: would you prefer businesses to see candidates’ contact details directly, or should initial contact take place through the platform?
I look forward to discussing.
Best Regards. -

When a business sends an enquiry for Thursday, should that day stay open to every other business until the person marks it off, or should one enquiry hide the day?
