Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
General information for the business: Commission solution providers
Kind of development: Customization of existing program
Num. of modules: 1
Description of module: QCPeriodEnd was originally written in classic visual basic 6.0 and is available as a dll, along with the visual basic source code.
QCPeriodEnd.dll code has around 4,900 lines of code. Our Application is period based (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, etc.). Once all the processes(Import, Calculation, Export and Email) are done, we will close the current period and move to next period.
Most of the code reads value from the SQL server database tables, does the processing in a recordset and writes it back to the same or other database tables. There will be some level of error handling that is either stored in the text files or in the database tables.
Description of requirements/functionality: The requirement is to convert the existing classic Visual basic component code to c#.net code. Method level conversion is good enough. The method/function should be doing exactly what the existing component does, in the C#.net component too. The performance is generally expected to be better once the code is ported over. However the performance is not a strict requirement since that can vary from method to method.
Specific technologies required: Visual Basic, C#.net
OS requirements: Windows
Extra notes: The code will be shared once the NDA is signed. The final payment will be paid after we verify the converted source code works as expected at our end.
Total Time duration for Milestone - 2 weeks

The vb dll component must be also implemented in the vb project itself (with gui or without)?.. so basically you want a c#.net based console application if its done without gui
-
Are you willing to increase the budget, $170 to convert 5000 lines of code seems unrealistic.
